We aim to contribute to a future in Africa where people can meet their basic needs, access education, develop their potential, and participate fully in society. We shape our goals around friendship, mutual respect, and the meaningful participation of local communities.
Büyük Sahra Association is an Istanbul-based organization whose activities are entirely focused on Africa. Alongside humanitarian needs such as education, food, shelter, and healthcare, we also focus on opportunities that support the development of individuals and communities.
In the initiatives we aim to develop across Africa, we put people first, without discrimination based on religion, language, race, gender, or culture. We believe that needs should be understood within the circumstances of individuals, families, and the communities in which they live.
Access to education and healthcare, as well as opportunities to develop vocational skills, are essential for people to build their own futures. We therefore seek to combine our goals in these areas with initiatives that make everyday life easier and help ensure that the opportunities created can be sustained over time.
We aim to build relationships with local communities across Africa based on mutual trust. We value learning from individuals and organizations with local knowledge and experience, while listening to people’s own perspectives on their needs, their suggestions, and their ideas for solutions.
To develop initiatives that improve access to basic needs, education, and healthcare in Africa while expanding opportunities for vocational skills and social development. In all our work, we are guided by respect for human dignity, non-discrimination, and meaningful local participation.

We value every individual’s experiences, choices, and right to privacy. In responding to people’s needs, we consider it our fundamental responsibility to protect their privacy and safety and to respect their right to make decisions about their own lives.
We measure the value of our work by the positive difference it can make in people’s lives. In areas such as education, vocational development, and shared community spaces, we aim to act with long-term sustainability in mind.
We believe that our relationships with communities across Africa should be based on mutual learning. Understanding different cultures, experiences, and ways of life is, in our view, essential to building respect, trust, and lasting friendships.
Büyük Sahra Association is a humanitarian aid association established on September 21, 2022, in accordance with the provisions of Turkish Civil Code No. 4721 governing associations, and is registered under association registry number 34-277-098.
The Association is registered with Sarıgazi Tax Office under tax identification number 1930851850 and is subject to the supervision of the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Civil Society Relations pursuant to Article 19 of the Associations Law No. 5253.
